Project Description:
Reinforcement of foundations for a railway bridge outside Fagersta, Sweden. The works was performed by Hercules Grundförstärkning AB. Altogether 16 holes were drilled with depth varying between 15-18 meters. Working procedure: casing drilling to the bedrock then 3 meter drilling into the bedrock itself. The first 6 meters of the formation consisted of blocks of granite and the remaining part of wood, clay and gravel. Wassara was the preferred technology due to the Wassara hammers ability to drill difficult formations. Furthermore, the drilling was performed close to a drinking water supply area but since the Wassara hammer is powered by clean water the risk of detrimental effects on the environment is minimized. A clear advantage.
Result:
The drilling went smoothly despite the difficult drilling conditions.
