Project Description:
At the request of AB Kustartilleristen/HSB, the Contractor Berg & Grundsäkring is doing a foundation reinforcement work for a six-store residential building at the kv. Munin. The foundation is done through an existing parking house, situated in one of the oldest remaining residential block yards in Stockholm. The foundation reinforcement is done by drilling pilings, Ø168.3x10.0 mm respectively Ø219x12.5 mm, and filling these with concrete. The pilings are guided down by pre-drilled holes through the existing parking house and then drilled through a layer of 16 meters of clay, sand, silt and moraine. Finally they are drilled into approx. 1 meter of solid rock. Due to requirements of least possible disturbance of surrounding foundation, as well as least possible drilling noise level, drilling with air and top hammer was prohibited. In order to verify possible vibrations and settlements, vibration monitors have been installed within the adjacent area. No major movements or vibrations have been discovered
Result:
The project is running smoothly and scheduled to finish within given time frames to the satisfaction of both commissioner and contractor.
