Freeze hole drilling with W150 at Årsta, Stockholm, Sweden

Project Description:

Drilling of 17 horizontal freeze holes, each 37 meter long, during the construction of one of the tunnels in the Southern Link highway in Stockholm, March 2001. Cooling liquid was then circulated in the holes in order to freeze the water in the formation. Pneumatic drilling would have disturbed the top soil layers too much. The work was carried out by Sven Andersson Brunnsborrning AB on commission by NCC, one of the major building contractors in Sweden.

Result:

Thanks to the Wassara W150 Drilling System the construction work could be successfully concluded.
