Blast holes with W80 at Wolfram Mine, Mittersill, Austria

Project Description:

Drilling of 30 meter long blast holes in Wolfram Mine, Mittersill, Austria. The drilling direction is down and upwards. As in the case of the LKAB mines in northern Sweden, the great benefit for the mine in using Wassara is the ability of the system to drill long and very straight holes which results in better ore return per drilled blast hole meter. Furthermore the necessary development per ton produced can be reduced, while the working conditions in the mine are much improved due to less dust in the air and no oil mist.

Result:

After test drilling with Wassara with good results it was decided to introduce the Wassara technology.
