Dropraise drilling in Avgolds Target Mine, South Africa

Project Description:

The method used by Brand Drill Torrex to make vertical shafts is to drill a pattern of 4 ½” holes and then blast in several steps.  To drill the 4 ½” holes, pneumatic hammers have been used up to now. However, with air it takes approximately three weeks to finish a shaft of 30 meters. With Wassara W100 Drilling System the same job is completed in one week. Furthermore, the requirement that the hole deviation must not exceed 1% is easily achieved with the Wassara system.

Result:

By using the Wassara System the completion time is reduced by a factor of three which results in considerable cost savings for the customer.
